El Ecuadorable pays his respects to Néstor Kirchner

Rafael Correa, president of Ecuador and pro tempore president of Unasur, speaks from the heart:

…and pulls no punches. No whitewashing Argentina’s dire past, and no underestimating the value of what Kirchner did for his country–and indeed, through his and Cristina’s solidarity, for Ecuador, which has seen a lot of tumult of late, what with Colombian bombings and CIA-backed coup attempts. That Latin American unity I talked about earlier today owes much to the intelligence and vision of Kirchner.

Like the man says: Not a moment of silence, but a loud and sustained applause, is the fitting tribute for Kirchner’s life and work.

¡Néstor vive, la lucha sigue!

    Got to love such contienent wide expressions of solidarity. Dr. Kirchner’s legacy will live on.

    It will, beyond all doubt…but how sad for Lula, to lose such a good friend on his birthday! Dilma and Cristina will have a lot of catching up to do once that second round of Brazilian elections is up. May Dilma kick Serra’s ass.

    This is the best editorial comment I’ve seen regarding Mr. K: “Murió Kirchner. Como no soy de esos hipócritas que endiosan a la gente cuando fallece (y todos nos vamos a morir), no esperen de mí elogios hacia este demagogo manipulador, que junto a su nociva mujer han enterrado más a Argentina en su larga decadencia, con acciones tan increíbles como echar “perro muerto” con la deuda externa, tirarse la plata de las AFP, ahogar las exportaciones agropecuarias con impuestos, reestatizar empresas, bajarse a la Corte Suprema y al BCR local, incordiar por gusto a Uruguay con las papeleras, usar reservas internacionales para gasto corriente, ser espoliques de Chávez, proteger a terroristas chilenos, ahogar a la prensa opositora, fomentar el nepotismo (hasta la hermana Alicia Kirchner fue ministra), dejar crecer a la corrupción (casos Felici y Valija), espiar a opositores desde el Estado (caso SIDE), resucitar a la desastrosa Aerolíneas Argentinas o desarticular al INEI local para manipular el índice inflacionario. Más bien, este deceso va a ser incluso positivo para ese país, ya que así se rompe el plan de los Kirchner de que Néstor le tomara el relevo a Cristina en el 2012, y a ver si los argentinos por fin eligen alguna vez a alguien que sea eficiente, cuerdo y decente a la vez.”
